Five days have passed since the devil attack. Black Bulls leader Yami Sukehiro and Magic Emperor Julius Novachrono recover from their injuries, with Julius stating that his heart has fully healed. Meanwhile, the White Night Eye's head reveals to the Witch Queen that Asta and Vanessa Enoteca are alive as well as the devils are gone. She sends Sally to recover Asta and Vanessa's anti-magic for her. Noelle Silva and Fana of the Witches' Forest battle, but Fana uses a spell that turns herself into a Salamander to escape. Injuries from Sally prevent Noelle from pursuing, so she returns to Asta, where she reunites with her older brother Kahono and her sister Kiato.

While Noelle, Luck and Fana are discussing the Witch Queen, Vanessa, after explaining her origins, she agrees to aid in defeating the kingdom's army if Asta promises to heal her son and states that he must be taken to see Witch Queen who may save him. Although asta refuses at first, he acknowledges his fate but gets astonished as Vanessa is insistent on making her aid a part of the deal. However Asta only agrees if Noelle insisted upon helping them get through the army by healing him but only if she would heal Vanessa's son which she complies. Vanessa amuses on how Asta and Noelle are quite alike as Noelle comments how much Asta reminds her of Sekke. As usual Magna goes on babbling about his action plan while Vanessa is contempt with blunt force of the Black Bull charge. Fanzell leaves to join up with the armies while Vanessa advises not to take too long as their devil could go out of control.   

Asta and Noelle view the invading kingdom's forces from the Forest of Witches. The Queen Mother, who desires Vanessa's anti-magic, arrives at Yami's suggestion and proposes an alliance to destroy Diamond Kingdom.

Yuno wants to become as brave as Asta is, and announces that he is Asta's rival and will become the Wizard King before Asta does. In the present, Asta uses his black grimoire to summon a giant black sword and effortlessly defeats the thief.

Two orphans become rivals in their quest to become the Wizard King when they agree to an astral duel. Soon Yuno receives a grimoire, but Asta is left empty handed. During his quest to obtain a grimoire, he meets a fresh faced priestess named Licht who helps him find his hidden powers by using the forbidden magic which opens up a very dark future for Asta.

It's been 60 years since the Witch Queen, who was said to be the most powerful witch in the history of magic, disappeared. In the past six decades, the Clover and Heart Kingdoms have enjoyed a visionless peace. Most wizards spend their time protecting their villages from outside threats.
