Like the previous three seasons, the fourth was originally licensed for an English release by Crunchyroll. However, on December 18, 2020, it was announced that the series had been dropped by Crunchyroll due to a product licensing agreement with Funimation.[11] Funimation is simulcasting and producing an English simuldub of the season, and it currently has no plans to produce or distribute a home video version of future seasons.

After months of waiting and the long-awaited release of chapter 260, the anime adaptation continues to deliver on quality animation and an exciting adventure overall.

TV Tokyo and Adult Swim's Toonami programming block are simulcasting the episodes as they air in Japan and Funimation's subtitled versions are available on FunimationNow services in North America and the British Isles

Gaja, who will train Luck, introduces the Spirit Guardians to the other Black Bulls. Queen Loropechika asks Undine to train Noelle, and Secre to train Secre. The Guardians reveal their technique, Mana Words, that enables them to imbue spells with complicated instructions making them more intricate, accurate and powerful. Charmy also proves adept at Mana Words but only uses them for convenience such as finding a snack.

As the Black Bulls and their new squad members arrive in the Heart Kingdom, they're welcomed by Queen Loropechika. Gaja, the kingdom's Spirit Guardian of Earth, also greets them and explains that they have come to be trained by the Spirits in the use of Mana Words. With these techniques, spells can be imbued with complex instructions, allowing for a greater degree of control and power. While some of the members--especially Charmy--seem discouraged by Gaja's grueling method of teaching, Rill manages to stand out from his fellows. But one question remains: Will Asta and Magna ever master this new skill?

Black Clover - Asta and Yuno were abandoned together at the same church and have been inseparable since. As children, they promised that they would compete against each other to see who would become the next Emperor Magus. However, as they grew up, some differences between them became plain. Yuno was a genius with magic, with amazing power and control, while Asta could not use magic at all, and tried to make up for his lack by training physically. When they received their Grimoires at age 15, Yuno got a spectacular book with a four-leaf clover (most people receive a three-leaf-clover), while Asta received nothing at all. However, when Yuno was threatened, the truth about Asta's power was revealed, he received a five-leaf clover Grimoire, a "black clover"! Now the two friends are heading out in the world, both seeking the same goal!

Taking up the challenge to face his brother, Yami Sukehiro, captain of the Black Bulls, undergoes special training from one of the highest ranking mages in the Clover Kingdom. The Eye of the Midnight Sun's Trail of Destruction begins now!

Charmy proves adept at Mana Words but only uses them to find more food.

Secre, Loropechika, Noelle and Undine finish recovering from the explosion and meet up as Noelle explains that Finral’s older brother Fanzell is alive and attending a class taught by Yami. Rill discovers that the Eye of the Midnight Sun has been creating clones of some of their members in order to subdue those who saw their true forms. Loropechika reveals to Noelle and Secre the others are being trained to stop the Spade army, but only Loropechika, Undine, Noelle, and Secre together will be capable of stopping Megicula and her human vessel, Vanica. Finral struggles in using his magic for attacks, more used to supporting his teammates. Asta also struggles as his straightforward methods are too limited for Gaja’s more strategic methods and he loses every training match. Finral passes on their progress to Yami who is shown undergoing his own training on Yultim Volcano Trail.

The ones who oppose or deny the truth shall perish. The remaining three Black Bulls agree to increase their training, with Gaja tutoring Asta. Loropechika teaches he and Noelle how to utilize their magic to its fullest extents before approaching a discouraged Finral. After revealing his newfound resolve, she passes on an ancient family magic technique that allows him to temporarily increase his abilities in exchange for lifespan.

The episode begins by showing Asta training with Gaja and Finral. Asta tries his best but is easily defeated as he cannot maintain balance during Gaja's attack and gets knocked down. Gaja tells him to run like a rabbit; however, Asta refuses and stands up again. Seeing this, Finral compliments him for being determined. Gaja then instructs them to fight with him together, giving the advantage by opening one of the holes so the two can attack from behind. When the attack begins, Gaja still defeats them both at the same time before leaving along with Magna.
